Sealy of Australia is a wholly owned company that began trading in Brisbane in 1923 as Madad Pty Ltd. The company originally built furniture and bedding components.

In the late 1960's it began manufacturing the Sealy brand under licence from Sealy Inc. in the U.S.A.

For many years, the company's flagship brand, Sealy Posturepedic, has been the number one selling premium bedding brand in Australia.
