Care Instructions
Things to do (and not do) when setting up your Sealy for the first time.
- Always carry your mattress on its side. You should not attempt to carry the mattress by yourself.
- Handles (where fitted) are only for positioning the mattress and not for lifting or carrying.
- Don't fold your mattress under any circumstances. It will damage the edge support wire. Gently flex the mattress when going through doorways.
- Don't remove the law tag located at the end of your mattress. This contains care and content details vital to your guarantee.
- Don't allow anyone to jump on your mattress, abuse is not covered by this guarantee.
- Dispose of plastic bags immediately. (These bags are polyethylene and are recyclable).
- Make sure children never use these bags as playthings. They have no air vents and could cause suffocation.
Extending the mattress life
Your new Sealy mattress has one sleeping surface. This means you will never have to flip the mattress. This mattress has StayTrue® upholstery padding which increases its comfort life.
Body indentations are a normal occurrence to your new mattress and indicate that the upholstery layers are conforming to your body's individual contours. To help minimize body impressions, and to add to your enjoyment with that new bed feel year after year, rotate your mattress occasionally throughout the life of your sleep set. For your convenience we've illustrated the best method.
How often to rotate your mattress:
- Every two weeks in the first three months.
- Once every two to three months thereafter.
Warning
You should not attempt to rotate the mattress by yourself. This may cause personal injury or damage to your mattress.
Rotating Instructions for 2 people

You may wish to rotate your mattress end for end.
- Grasp the mattress corners and spin the mattress clockwise 180º and align it with the base.
- Your mattress has now been rotated end for end.
NB Handles (if fitted) should be used only to position the mattress not to lift or carry the mattress.
The Do's and Dont's
The Do's
- Do register your purchase to activate your warranty.
- Do give your new sleep set time to "air" upon removal from its plastic packaging. Dispose of all plastic packaging as soon as possible. New mattresses may have a "new bed smell" that may take a couple weeks to disapate.
- Do carry your mattress flat on its side. It's easier to handle and you'll be less likely to damage the mattress.
- Do keep your bedding clean. We always suggest using a mattress pad. Use of mattress pad will ensure that your warranty will stay in effect.
- Do replace the old Sprung Foundation when purchasing a new mattress. An old box spring may not provide sufficient support. It may appear that your new mattress is sagging when it is actually the box spring, which supports the mattress, that has become worn.
- Do use an appropriate frame and center support for queen and king size mattresses. Using the proper frame will ensure that your warranty remains in effect.
- Do rotate your mattress occasionally from head to toe, to prolong the comfort and support life. Body indentations are a normal occurrence in your new mattress and indicate that the upholstery layers are conforming to your body's individual contours.
The Dont's
- Don't remove the law tag label at the end of your mattress. This serves as a means of identification to establish your warranty rights, in the rare event any service need arises.
- Don't smoke in bed.
- Don't use dry cleaning fluid of any type on your mattress. These chemicals will damage some of the construction materials.
- Don't allow your mattress to get wet. Some of the upholstery materials may compress. Protect it from water or other liquids.
- Don't let anyone stand or jump on your mattress. It wasn't built for that type of weight distribution or abuse.
- Don't place a board between your mattress and Sprung Foundation. Your sleep set is designed as an integrated system to provide you with proper support, and the foundation plays an important role.
- Don't bend your new Sealy mattress more than 15 degrees. Such treatment may damage the innerspring unit. Flex rather than bend the mattress when going through doorways.
