Achieving good sleep and managing stress through a few simple changes to your bedroom.

Sealy knows that people need sleep as much as food, water, and oxygen. We eat, drink, and breathe but do we truly ensure our body gets a proper sleep each night? How do you sleep at night? Restful or restless? In a world muddled with stress and busy lives, sleep deprivation could very well be knocking years from our lives. It’s not easy to get a good night’s sleep. If you spend two-thirds of your time hassled and harried in life, we ask the question, “why not create a space where peace and calmness prevail?” Here are three tips to help you achieve sleep and manage stress in your bedroom:

  1. Declutter. Life is chaotic enough. Keep your bedroom oasis free of similar confusion. Remove all unnecessary furniture and décor from your space. Narrow it down to only items you really need. Use the walls as galleries for simple, yet pleasing artwork and photographs and your bed to build in colour with comfy bedding and pillows. 
  2. Make it cozy. Surround yourself with comfort and escape from daily tension. Start with a supportive mattress and enhance your bedroom space with soft paint colors, lighting, pillows, and blankets. Though bedding is important, choose pillows for their comfort, not their decorative design. 
  3. Make it for relaxation and sleep. When heading to bed at night, leave the smart phones, laptops, and tablets at the door. Make your bedroom a no-electronics zone. Your bedroom is a place where you enter to be free of distractions including the home wifi. Dim the lights and wind down from the busy day with a good book or conversation with your partner instead. 

It might seem that a good night’s sleep is harder to come by these days, but with a few simple changes, you could be on your way to getting the best sleep you’ve had in years.
