At Sealy, we understand that when a child is sick, the whole family feels the pain. That’s why for many years we’ve proudly partnered with Ronald McDonald House Charities Australia (RMHC), to help provide a better night’s sleep for over 10,000 families in need each year.
Ronald McDonald House Charities Australia is a registered independent charity and a not-for-profit organisation that provides accommodation for families with seriously ill children. With 16 established houses across Australia, it’s estimated that every year more than 10,000 families will take up residence in the Houses while their children stay in nearby hospitals.
In addition to the 16 Houses, RMHC operate three (3) other key programs in Australia including 18 Family Rooms located in all the major Women & Children’s Hospitals, 5 Family Retreats and an award winning National Learning Program which helps fulfil the gap in education for the 1,300+ kids per week that suffer this education downfall during the treatment of their serious illness.
To date, Sealy have happily donated more than 2,000 mattresses in Australia – in fact, almost every bed in the homes uses a Sealy Posturepedic. Our aim is to help families get a good night’s sleep so that it can alleviate some of the added stress of being temporarily displaced from their own homes.
"Our Ronald McDonald Houses are built on the simple idea that nothing else should matter when a family is caring for their seriously ill child – not where they can afford to stay, where they will get their next meal or where they will lay their head to rest at night," says Barbara Ryan, CEO RMHC Australia.
"Thanks to our partnership with Sealy, our families have a safe, healthy and comfortable environment to recharge and recover close to their hospitalised child".
Ronald McDonald House Charities is growing and Sealy pledge to grow with it. With new program developments constantly in the works, we’ll continue to donate our time and mattresses to ensure that families in need across Australia get a good night’s sleep.
As an independent charity we rely on our amazing volunteers and on generous financial help from the public to continue to extend our programs. Together we can help more children suffering from serious illness to lead healthier, happier lives.
